Join us for an exciting exploration of newly published historical imagery from many sources including Toitū Te Whenua Basemaps, Retrolens, Esri Wayback and Google Earth. Discover how hundreds of recently released historical imagery layers can vividly illustrate transformations of Māori whenua over generations, empowering your GIS projects and enriching your storytelling and decision-making processes.

This wānanga includes three practical step by step demonstrations:
Tuatahi: What's available, from where, and how to access it
We will take a deep dive into historical imagery resources, including hundreds of newly released layers from Toitū Te Whenua, Retrolens, and other key sources. Learn how to access this imagery online in web maps or use it directly within your GIS tools or through downloads.
Tuarua: Georectifying Retrolens images using Google Earth and QGIS
Get step-by-step guidance on georectifying historical aerial photos to align with your whenua, enabling comparisons with all types of different imagery and historical maps.
Tuatoru: Visualising changes over time and presenting in 3D flythroughs
Learn how to visualise and demonstrate historical transformations of Māori land blocks, highlighting significant environmental and cultural changes to support informed decision-making.
